On Jan. 1, 2025, Bernie Liu will officially resign as CEO of GOLDEN ABC (GABC)—widely recognized as the Penshoppe group—after nearly 30 years in the position, having begun in 1996. In conjunction with this change, Bernie will dedicate his efforts to his role as Executive Chairman of both GOLDEN ABC and its parent company, LH Paragon, Inc. (LHPI).
Alice Liu will take on the position of CEO at GOLDEN ABC, marking the conclusion of a two-year succession initiative, which is part of the company’s strategic succession plan. Alice, who has held the titles of President and COO at GABC since March 2023, was elected and appointed to the CEO role by the board of directors.
With this new role, she will forgo her COO title but will maintain her position as the organization’s President. This transition is the outcome of careful planning, with Bernie and Alice collaborating closely with the leadership of the company over the past two years to facilitate a seamless transfer.

Bernie himself enjoys widespread respect throughout the industry and larger business community, having occupied significant roles like President and Chairman of the Philippine Retailers Association. Among his personal accolades are the Agora Award for Outstanding Achievement in Entrepreneurship, the Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) Award, and the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
