Pioneer Insurance, a reliable insurance provider, celebrates seventy years of being a cornerstone in the industry and emphasizes its dedication to embody its culture and principles in serving the Filipino community.
As part of its Platinum Year initiatives, Pioneer Insurance Group Head Lorenzo Chan, Jr. warmly greeted guests at its revamped Culture and Values Exhibit. “We take pride in the culture and values that have forged our identity and motivate us to initiate meaningful projects that uplift Filipinos during unforeseen circumstances,” Mr. Chan articulated.
Translating dedication into action
Established in 1954 in Binondo, Manila, Pioneer Insurance began with merely five staff members operating from the Quisumbing Building. Over the years, a culture of cooperation and empathy was nurtured by its leaders, including Lorenzo Chantoh, Robert Coyuito, Sr., Jose Halili Co, David Coyukiat, and Lorenzo Chan, Jr.
Presently, the group employs nearly 1,700 individuals spread across four Pioneer Houses and a branch network nationwide, guided by its fundamental values of honesty, excellence, and malasakit.
In addition to its commitment to individuals, Pioneer reaffirms its dedication to the environment through its sustainable buildings, such as the LEED Platinum-certified Pioneer House Cagayan de Oro, LEED Gold-certified Pioneer House Manila, and the LEED Gold and WELL Gold pre-certified Pioneer House BGC, which is slated for completion in 2026.
The company’s malasakit transcends business activities. Through the Pioneer Foundation, Inc. (PFI), the organization has led numerous impactful initiatives, including the TUPAD Program and PFI Scholarship Program, which provide educational scholarships to worthy students, as well as the Pioneer Gawad Kalinga Village in Pandi, Bulacan, a community established to offer homes and sustainable livelihoods for families in need.
Simultaneously, Pioneer continues to convey the significance of insurance to the younger generation through its award-winning Youth Campaigns. Previous contests have delved into themes of hope, resilience, and nation-building through short films, visual arts, music, and photography. Over the years, it has collaborated with Samsung, FILSCAP, Team Manila, and Virgin Labfest, accumulating over a thousand submissions from students across the country.
For 2024, it introduced the Real to Reel Short Film Competition, enabling Gen Z to showcase their distinctive perspectives on achieving a better future and to inspire action regarding pressing social challenges.
The updated exhibit highlights all these aspects, allowing visitors to engage with the culture and values that have enabled Pioneer to remain a trusted leader in the industry for 70 years and continuing.
Pioneer Insurance stands as a premier Filipino insurance provider, ranking No. 1 in Microinsurance, Aviation, Marine Hull, and Special Risks; No. 2 in Casualty and Fire; and No. 3 in Crime Insurance and Marine Cargo, as per the latest Insurance Commission report. Its contributions to expanding microinsurance enrollment in the Philippines have received international recognition and are viewed as the benchmark for global microinsurance standards.
