The French Embassy in the Philippines, collaborating with SM Supermalls and SM Cinema, is hosting the 27th iteration of the French Film Festival at SM Aura Cinema from Nov. 22 to 26, and at SM City North EDSA Cinema from Nov. 22 to 29, 2024. Entry is complimentary and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
For the first time ever, the French Film Festival will present Feminist Cinema with a cross-cultural view between France and the Philippines featuring a selection of films by the emerging generation of French and Filipina women directors.
A distinguished guest — French filmmaker Noémie Lefort — has been invited to the Philippines for this special event. She will showcase her film My Heroin, inspired by her own narrative about a young girl aspiring to direct a movie in Hollywood. On Nov. 26, she will participate in a round-table discussion at SM City North EDSA Cinema regarding the role of women in cinema, both in front of and behind the camera, along with notable women from the Philippine film sector. Additionally, she will conduct a master class on film directing for students at the University of the Philippines.
The 27th French Film Festival — Feminist is coordinated by SM Supermalls, SM Cinema, the Embassy of France, Alliance Française de Manille, Institut Français, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
