Hundreds assemble to advocate behavioral-driven cybersecurity in the Philippines
FORUM 1, the premier event of the I AM SECURE 2025 cybersecurity awareness series, kicked off powerfully with a successful hybrid gathering held at Makati Diamond Residences. Focused on the theme, “Preparing for Cyber Defense: The Ultimate Strategy,” the event convened numerous cybersecurity professionals, specialists, and leaders from the industry to examine cognitive use case strategies for cyber defense.
In his opening remarks, ISOG President Chito Jacinto underlined the forum’s expansion since its inaugural event in 2023 at the same location. “It’s uplifting to revisit this venue where our journey initiated. From a solitary ballroom to occupying an entire floor — this development mirrors the strength of our cybersecurity community. Our refreshed approach on cognitive priming empowers individuals to inherently identify and react to threats. ISOG is resolute in cultivating a cyber-ready Philippines.”
ISOG Vice-President and Security Bank CISO Alvin Punsalan presented a strategic framework for national cyber defense. “To equip our defenses, we need to enhance cross-sector cooperation, embrace a Zero Trust mindset, and activate our cybersecurity community. Through I AM SECURE, we safeguard, we guide, and we motivate. United, we fortify our nation’s digital future.”
Keynote speaker Assistant Secretary Angelica I. Sarmiento of the Department of Finance established the tone with her presentation, “Enhancing Cybersecurity Defenses in Financial Institutions in the Age of AI,” highlighting proactive policies and innovative measures to protect critical sectors.
Thought Leadership in Spotlight: Two significant panel discussions anchored the day’s agenda, moderated by Christine Kempeneers, Head of Governance and Risk at Maplecrest Group and a 2024 ISOG Cybersecurity Excellence Awardee.
Panel 1: “The Impact of Psychological Priming in Cybersecurity Awareness Programs” included Titanium sponsors as panelists who investigated how behavioral science improves user training and resilience.
Panel 2: “Cultivating a Cybersecurity Culture Through Priming Techniques” featured Platinum sponsors and special guest Edison as panelists. The conversation centered on integrating behavioral strategies into organizational culture.
