TRON’s official X account was breached on May 2, and the team has now verified that the breach was a result of a social engineering scheme. The perpetrators used the account to promote a contract address and reportedly sent direct messages to users while following dubious accounts before TRON regained control.
According to TRON DAO, any direct message sent from its X account on May 2 should be dismissed. Users were also advised to delete any direct messages received that day as these were part of the hackers’ strategy to spread harmful information and interact with unsuspecting users.

Disagreement Between Sun And OKX Regarding Freeze Request
TRON founder Justin Sun requested that OKX freeze a wallet linked to the breach. In a deleted tweet, Sun alleged that funds taken in the hack had been moved to the exchange and claimed that authorities had already sent a freeze notification to OKX’s official channel.

However, OKX CEO Star Xu publicly responded, asserting that the exchange had not received any formal request. He stated that the company’s legal team checked all correspondence, including spam emails, and found nothing.

Xu then challenged Sun to present proof by posting a screenshot of the request. This public exchange may have prompted Sun to delete his initial post.
TRON Continues With Kant Update
Despite the occurrence, TRON has been active on the development side. The network has recently introduced a new version of its Kant mainnet update. The update includes a redesign of its contract event framework and improved API and node efficiency. These enhancements are expected to bolster the blockchain’s interaction with Ethereum, making it more secure and efficient in the background.
Although these adjustments may not catch the attention of average users, TRON explained that they are crucial for long-term advancement. They stated that their goal is to facilitate larger-scale operations and strengthen the network as a settlement infrastructure.
