Kristin Smith, the Chief Executive Officer of the US-based Blockchain Association, is set to depart from the cryptocurrency advocacy organization to join the recently established Solana Policy Institute.
In a notice dated April 1, the Blockchain Association (BA) announced that Smith would resign from her CEO position on May 16. As stated by the association, the soon-to-be former CEO will assume the role of president at the Solana Policy Institute starting May 19.
The announcement from the association did not clarify the reasons behind the transition to the Solana advocacy entity nor indicate who would take charge after Smith’s exit. Cointelegraph sought a comment from the Blockchain Association but did not receive a response at the time of this publication.

Smith, who has been with the BA since 2018 and previously served as deputy chief of staff for former Montana Representative Denny Rehberg, will succeed DeFi Education Fund CEO Miller Whitehouse-Levine, who is leaving his role to become the CEO of the Solana Policy Institute. Whitehouse-Levine noted that the organization intends to inform US policymakers regarding Solana.
This is an ongoing story, and additional details will be provided as they emerge.
