Initiated by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, in collaboration with the Department of Health and PhilHealth, the Health Economics and Finance Program (HEFP) aspires to address challenges obstructing the attainment of universal healthcare in the Philippines.
HEFP will produce data to enhance PhilHealth’s reimbursement system, encompassing research to facilitate the nation’s shift to Diagnosis-Related Groups as required by the Universal Healthcare Act.
Reform in provider payments seeks to mitigate out-of-pocket costs, which is a contributing factor to poverty among Filipinos.
