Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recently organized the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy Philippines (TGRA) at the Clark International Speedway, where hopeful racers encountered the excitement of the racetracks firsthand.

In the initial segment of the program, attendees were introduced to the fundamentals of racing, appropriate racing conduct, vehicle control techniques, and braking points on the course.

In the latter half of the program, participants were able to implement what they had acquired during the orientation through supervised track exercises. The slalom activity evaluated the contestants’ nimbleness, while the ‘follow the leader’ exercise enabled them to experience the racetrack’s straights and turns by tracking the racing line.

The TGRA was embraced with enthusiasm by newcomers, who made up the majority of attendees:

“I engage in go-karting, so I wished to try maneuvering a car — to discover kung anong pinagkaiba. It’s nearly identical, yet also distinct because the vehicle is larger. For me, I feel like mas masaya ito,” expressed Karis Alexandra Santos.

“Ever since bata pa ako mahilig ako sa kotse and manood ng races. I’m also intrigued by the mechanical features of vehicles. Kaya I seized the chance to enroll nung nakita ko na may slot sa TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy,” shared Nemuel Obas.

“The TGRA makes entering this sport more attainable. It surpassed my expectations. Akala ko yung initial few tasks lang gagawin namin — yung avoiding the cones and braking. Yun pala we also get to navigate the track several times and at a considerable speed,” shared Miguel Corrales.

“Pangarap ko makapag-drive sa speedway, sa track — yung ma-experience yung ganitong driving atmosphere at ma-enhance yung skills ko, so in-encourage ako ng mga anak ko mag-enroll [sa TGRA]” said Javi Rios.

“As a female in motorsports, I’m thrilled to promote diversity and dismantle barriers in a historically male-centric sport. I believe the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy is the ideal setting to realize this passion of mine,” expressed Ella Nicole Bornilla.

“The TGRA serves as our initiative to render motorsports more reachable for race enthusiasts,” expressed TMP Assistant Vice-President for Marketing Services Andy Ty. “We will organize additional batches of the TGRA this year, so we encourage those who were unable to participate in this initial batch to join us in the upcoming ones.”

Established in 2014, the TGRA was created as a training platform for aspiring individuals keen to embark on a racing career. A number of alumni from this program have successfully transitioned into professional racing, some even competing in the TGR Philippine Cup, which is TMP’s leading racing series.

Race aficionados can still partake in the excitement during Race Weekend 1 of the TGR Philippine Cup, set to take place this Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Clark International Speedway. Admission is complimentary.

The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy Philippines is officially recognized by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and is presented by Official Fuel & Lubricants Partner Petron and Official Tire Partner GT Radial. This occasion is also backed by Toyota Financial Services Philippines, myTOYOTA Wallet, Denso, AVT, 3M, ROTA, Tuason Racing, OMP, and Kinto One.
