Esteemed Ethereum community (and marvelous Etherheads!),

Today, January 31, 2018, marks my final day as Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to lead the Foundation as ED alongside my fellow directors, team leaders, and an exceptional group of team members, each of whom has played a part in our current strong position. Transitioning the Foundation from what was a nascent startup to one of resilience, equipped with the infrastructure and resources to tackle the upcoming changes, enhancements, and challenges was no insignificant achievement in the blockchain and crypto realm!

We have shared many experiences together to successfully navigate various growth phases over the past 2.5+ years. Consequently, the Ethereum Foundation has emerged more robust, more stable, and more effective as an organization, entity, and prominent contributor within both the Ethereum community and the wider sphere of emerging technology.

With the Foundation having successfully initiated Frontier, launched Homestead and Metropolis-1 (aka Byzantium), and possessing the resources to continue advancing its mission and relevant projects, teams, and aims, I feel fulfilled that the essential work I was assigned has been accomplished so that the next chapter of the journey can unfold as planned.

I would like to seize this moment to encourage the community to extend a warm and open-hearted welcome to the incoming Executive Director and all new team members, along with the patience required for organizational transitions of this kind.

To my cherished team members, words cannot capture the impact and experience of collaborating with you over the past years. You will always hold a significant place in my life, and I will be cheering for you at the Foundation or wherever your paths may lead as I embark on my own new chapter.

As I will be tending to a variety of long-overdue personal matters, I kindly request our community and the media to concentrate on the thrilling future-oriented developments at the Foundation, in the Ethereum community, and in the expanding global blockchain ecosystem.

I truly wish the utmost success for the Foundation, the new team members, and all of us who continue here as we bravely navigate the new landscape to grow and thrive both together and individually.

    Ming Chan
    Executive Director (August 1, 2015 – January 31, 2018)
    Ethereum Foundation
