Developer Experience 2 out of 2 scorched earth A distributed framework for peer-to-peer content recommendations employing a “Two Of Two Scorched Earth” incentive/punishment model suggested by Vitalik Buterin to promote high-quality content sharing. The aim of this initiative is to produce a proof-of-concept implementation on the mainnet to showcase the practicality of this approach for various uses. Developer Experience EthWorks Updates and enhancements on Waffle, a library dedicated to writing and testing smart contracts. Grant targets include ENS integration, improved documentation, and the addition of dynamic mocking. https://github.com/EthWorks/Waffle Developer Experience POA Network The Arbitrary Message Bridge not only facilitates the transfer of tokens between any two EVM-compatible chains but also enables the transmission of any data or invocation of contracts – for instance, executing a function on the Ethereum mainnet from the POA network or a Quorum Chain. Resources allocated to POA Network will aim to enhance AMB’s functionality, develop demonstrations, and prepare for 2.0 support. https://www.poa.network/ Ethereum 1.0 Nethermind Ongoing funding for Nethermind to rigorously test the Nethermind 1.x client, initiate beam synchronization, and enhance performance to boost miner engagement. https://nethermind.io/ Ethereum 1.0 Tasit SDK The Tasit SDK is a JavaScript framework designed for developing native Ethereum mobile decentralized applications using React Native, emphasizing user experience and seamless onboarding. https://github.com/tasitlabs/tasitsdk Ethereum 2.0 Fast Binary Field FFT Developing an expeditious binary field FFT which is essential for estimating the complexity of calculating data availability roots; including additional investigation into whether 16 or 64 bit fields are preferable in light of specialized CPU support for the latter. Ethereum 2.0 Lighthouse Continued financial support for Sigma Prime in the advancement of the Lighthouse staking client, developed in Rust, for the Ethereum 2.0 ecosystem. Lighthouse v0.11.1 testnets are operational, with user-focused testnets scheduled to launch soon. https://github.com/sigp/lighthouse Ethereum 2.0 Lodestar Sustained funding for Chainsafe’s initiatives on Eth2 light-client research and development within their Lodestar JavaScript client, along with further refinement of libraries, tools, and educational materials to support the Eth2 JavaScript/web-browser framework. Recent results from an audit of several critical components of Lodestar were released. https://chainsafe.io/ Ethereum 2.0 Nimbus Ongoing financing to Status for the development of the Nimbus client for Ethereum 2.0. Nimbus is engineered to function optimally on embedded systems and mobile devices, including older smartphones with limited resources. Nimbus is approaching a v0.11.1 testnet launch. https://nimbus.team/ Ethereum 2.0 VDF Continuation Funding Research conducted by esteemed complexity theorist Ryan Williams focusing on the sequentiality assumption of RSA-based VDFs, particularly seeking a deeper understanding of the “delay” aspect of VDFs (verifiable delay functions), which underlie unbiasable randomness in Eth2. The initiatives financed by this grant target establishing information-theoretic lower limits for modular exponentiation calculations. Indirect Funding Gitcoin bounties Funding for community-managed bounties that support the development of the Ethereum ecosystem. https://gitcoin.co Layer 2 Plasma Chamber Cryptoeconomics Labs is progressing towards a production-ready version of Plasma Chamber based on OVM. Anticipated results from the grant include the testnet rollout of the OVM contract, a Plasma wallet, and a developer portal offering tools and documentation. https://www.cryptoeconomicslab.com/ User Experience ENS Continuation Funding Ongoing enhancements of the Ethereum Name Service, which encompasses comprehensive DNS namespace inclusion, utilizing ENS and IPFS to store and serve DNS identifiers; multi-coin compatibility; upgrades to the ENS website and Manager; advocacy and outreach efforts. https://ens.domains/
