Comrades,
Since the previous Devcon announcement, the condition of the Ethereum ecosystem has been vibrant. We’ve achieved significant milestones on the Eth2 roadmap, alongside numerous breakthroughs and substantial advancements by teams throughout the ecosystem. We are exceptionally thrilled to commemorate these accomplishments with all of you at Devcon in Bogota shortly.
That being said, we need to discuss timing, as we’ve reached the tough choice to postpone our gathering for a bit longer instead of proceeding with our August target (☔️✔). While nothing is certain due to the ongoing pandemic, we’re optimistic that a new date announcement could come soon with the increased availability of COVID-19 vaccines and the improving pandemic-related trends. Nonetheless, we want to ensure we approach this responsibly and that as many individuals as possible can make the journey from across the globe, which appears unlikely by early August. In recent weeks and months, we have continued to observe and listen to the concerns voiced by the community, and the overall sentiment surrounding the August date, and it is evident that the best approach to ensure we can accommodate everyone is with just a bit more time.
In the meantime, there’s a great deal happening! The path to Devcon will be filled with numerous events, both virtual and in-person — including EthCC, which is now slated to occur in July of 2021 (hosted in Paris by our colleagues at Ethereum France). We’re eager to support the initiatives of all the remarkable and innovative teams striving to sustain our ecosystem. And while we’ve remained engaged and connected over the past year from a distance, we hope to reunite as the situation enhances.
As soon as we are capable of making date-related announcements, you’ll find alongside it information on ticketing, speaker applications, and all the other specifics we know you’re keen to discover. Until then, we will keep actively assessing Devcon Improvement Proposals, so if you have an idea that you believe will enhance Devcon, send it our way. We’ll persist in our efforts to create an incredible event, which will arrive before we realize it.
