In a daring new initiative that merges education and Bitcoin advancement, Lomond School has revealed the introduction of the Satoshi Scholarships, a pioneering Bitcoin-based scholarship program, as stated in a press release distributed to Bitcoin Magazine. This announcement coincides with a strategic collaboration with esteemed economist Dr. Saifedean Ammous to establish an Austrian economics curriculum for students.
This independent co-educational day and boarding institution, already recognized as the first globally to accept Bitcoin for tuition, is now offering 21 two-year boarding scholarships and 21 two-year day scholarships—fully covering the school’s prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Each scholarship aims to empower students passionate about economics, innovation, and critical analysis, irrespective of their backgrounds.
“The feedback from the Bitcoin community since we announced our acceptance of Bitcoin for fees has been remarkable,” stated Claire Chisholm, Principal of Lomond School, during an appearance on Jordan Walker’s Bitcoin Collective Podcast. “Launching the scholarship initiative felt like a logical progression. With Dr. Ammous supporting our curriculum and the rollout of our scholarship initiative, I encourage dedicated supporters to join us as benefactors and help cultivate the next generation of economic innovators.”
In addition to scholarships, the school is also initiating a new economics curriculum in partnership with Dr. Ammous, known for his book The Bitcoin Standard. This initiative will focus on Austrian economics, sound money, and the principles of financial freedom.
“The future of liberty and wealth hinges on the upcoming generation grasping sound economic principles,” remarked Dr. Ammous. “Through this partnership, we strive to sow the seeds of long-term thinking and financial literacy from an early age. I am thrilled to collaborate with Lomond School on this exceptionally exciting venture.”
The curriculum will enhance Lomond’s already forward-thinking educational model, integrating hands-on Bitcoin applications. Students will delve into decentralized finance concepts, interact with Bitcoin mining equipment donated to the school, and acquire practical insights into monetary systems beyond conventional learning environments.
Lomond School mentioned that it is actively searching for 43 founding benefactors—one for each scholarship and the premier sponsor package. As Chisholm emphasized: “Become one of the 43 to influence the future—where education intersects with innovation, and where Austrian economics flourishes in the classroom. Assist us in transforming the world from Helensburgh.” Those interested can find out more or register their interest by contacting [email protected].
