London, United Kingdom, June 14, 2016 – The Ethereum Foundation is delighted to declare Microsoft as the Premier Sponsor of Devcon2, the Ethereum developer conference taking place in Shanghai, 19-21 September, 2016.
Devcon2, which will highlight the latest research and development initiatives supported by the Foundation, also symbolizes the most extensive Ethereum-centered developer conference to date.
The Chief Scientist of the Ethereum Foundation, Vitalik Buterin, remarks that “We are extremely pleased to have Microsoft’s backing for Devcon2 and highly value their ongoing support and cooperation with the Ethereum Foundation and the Ethereum ecosystem. We eagerly anticipate continuing our collaboration in the future.”
Microsoft, an early frontrunner with its Blockchain as a Service (BaaS), offers a transparent, hyperscale cloud platform and an evolving ecosystem of blockchain solutions for companies, consortiums, and governments aiming to embrace the technology. During the conference, Ethereum developers will receive insights from Microsoft specialists and explore Microsoft Azure’s premier tools for blockchain development.
“We’re excited to support the Ethereum Foundation’s Devcon2, which will gather innovators in blockchain from around the globe,” stated Marley Gray, Director of Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Business Development at Microsoft. “The Ethereum blockchain is impactful, and we look forward to sustaining the joint relationship with the Ethereum community, collectively bringing the finest of blockchain technology to our cloud platform, Microsoft Azure.”
While Devcon2 remains a standalone event, this year it is featured as part of the International Blockchain Week along with events from the Wanxiang Blockchain Labs. The weeklong, single venue format serves to integrate both the development-oriented Devcon2 and the business and industry-centric Global Summit events within one week, promoting greater interaction and cross-pollination among individuals engaged in varying sectors or facets of blockchain technology.
Please mark your calendars and keep an eye on the Ethereum blog for regular updates until the event website becomes available in late June.
