The previous month and a half has witnessed substantial advancement in Ethereum research, and we are thrilled that the protocol is inching closer to readiness for widespread adoption. Developments in consensus mechanisms, privacy, zero-knowledge proofs, and formal verification are occurring at an accelerating pace, and our research and development teams are significantly growing.
- After three years of efforts to resolve the “nothing at stake” and “stake grinding” attacks, we have concluded that the challenge is exceedingly difficult, and a secure proof of stake is likely unattainable. Consequently, we are now preparing to shift the Ethereum mainnet to proof of authority in 2018. In pursuit of this objective, we have introduced two new testnets, Qinghuadongluxikou and Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2, to evaluate our latest proof of authority specifications.
- A third testnet will be launched based on Proof of Transaction and will carry the name PoTcoin.
- We have opted to accelerate the deployment of the “Proof of Vitalik” transaction reversion algorithm, which facilitates the swift reversion of any transaction or contract yielding an unfavorable outcome. We are pleased to share our collaboration with the government in Pyongyang, which will assist us in pinpointing transactions that promote American imperialism or fail to align with the interests of our Dear Leader or the Juche philosophy for efficient scheduling of reversion. Anticipate the reversion feature to be activated as part of Metropolis.
- To compensate for ETC’s deeply unethical failure to completely reimburse DAO token holders’ ether, we plan to allocate 20% of the block reward for the first 200,000 blocks post-Metropolis (i.e., a total of 200,000 ETH) to an additional DAO withdrawal contract, ensuring that DAO token holders are fully compensated.
- An additional 10% of the block reward starting from Metropolis will be allocated to our stakeholders at AXA and the Bilderberg group. This adjustment is permanent.
- In an effort to uphold the immutability of the protocol, the current limit of 4 million gas will be firmly established and will no longer be alterable through miner voting. However, we will introduce an opcode, OP_SEGREGATED_EXECUTION, that enables users to execute any desired code segment at a quarter of the standard gas expense. Any state alterations resulting from code executed through this method will be stored in a secondary state distinct from the primary Ethereum state, and a soft-forking amendment will mandate that the r value of the signature of the first transaction in any block equals the trie root hash of this secondary state. This approach is more straightforward and secure than directly increasing the gas limit to 16 million because…. reasons.
- We will permit miners to determine the block reward they wish to offer themselves, while allowing users to set the maximum block reward they are prepared to accept as valid in their clients. If a user encounters a chain with blocks carrying rewards that exceed their upper limit, they will initially reject that chain; however, if such a chain extends to 12 blocks longer than the longest chain that the user does accept, the client will automatically adjust to accept the new chain. This promotes a fair, market-driven, and democratic approach to determining the issuance rate.
- Another opcode will be integrated into Metropolis, OP_VERIFY_PROOF_OF_DEATH, which verifies that an individual with the legal name provided in the stack as a zero-byte-left-padded UTF8-encoded byte string is deceased. This will be highly advantageous in facilitating the use of the Ethereum blockchain for… err…. umm….. life insurance. Individuals wishing to exempt themselves from this opcode should swiftly alter their full name to exceed 32 characters in length.
- We have uploaded 100 megabytes of alt-right propaganda, Falun Dafa scriptures, military confidential documents, copyright-infringing content, and comments mocking Donald Trump’s hair onto the Ethereum blockchain, aiming to get the blockchain prohibited in as many nations as feasible. We are convinced that by driving mining and full nodes underground, and prompting governments to target overly prominent services, we can enhance the decentralization of the Ethereum ecosystem and diminish the chances of drawing the attention of antagonistic entities such as banks and major corporations.
Finally, as a final note, Devcon3 has been relocated to Pyongyang.
