Launching a Fresh Chapter for Ethereum: Exciting Developments at Ethereum.org

    Hello, universe!

    Welcome to the revamped ethereum.org.

This marks the commencement of the ethereum.org revamp, rather than its conclusion. As detailed further below, the updated website is purposely a work in progress. It’s debuting as a trial, aimed at evolving and iterating publicly as the community enhances it — similar to Ethereum.

    Three fundamental principles

As we’ve advanced towards a re-launch of ethereum.org, we’ve been steered by three fundamental principles:

    1. Ethereum.org serves as a gateway to community-generated resources

One of Ethereum’s most significant assets is its extensive decentralized community. Over recent years, this community has taken the initiative to develop invaluable resources: documentation, wikis, newsletters, tutorials, discussion platforms, and more.

Ethereum.org’s role is to act as a gateway to these resources, not a replacement for them. Ethereum.org will focus on linking to content produced by the community, rather than hosting proprietary content on every subject. Through community input, the website will gradually adapt to always showcase the most relevant information about Ethereum.

    2. Developed transparently, with the community’s support

Ethereum.org is re-launching as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), and the design intentionally presents a simplistic blank canvas. We invite your assistance to enhance and iterate it over time – check out the contributors guide or the list of open issues if you wish to get involved.

Currently, there are only four subpages, (Beginners, Use, Learn, and Build) but we expect to introduce new additions over time. We also plan to seek contributions from the community for redesigns of entire subpages – stay tuned for more information on how to participate.

The prominent aspect of the landing page is a substantial “HERO” style image, and the current one is merely a placeholder. We aim to update it frequently as we gather submissions from the community, rotating the artwork over time. If you are interested in contributing a new HERO image design, contact us at website@ethereum.org.

    3. Not your customary product website

Ethereum stands as the largest open-source blockchain community globally. Development of core technologies is distributed among various organizations, and the network is actively utilized in production to safeguard billions of dollars worth of digital assets and other valuable resources. Ethereum is the most technically advanced and widely employed programmable blockchain in existence.

Ethereum is unique, and ethereum.org should reflect that uniqueness too. It will never be an ordinary product website, as it isn’t trying to sell you anything. This is a platform for a community that is actively accomplishing tasks: onboarding new developers and users, educating each other, and building.

    Thank you!

If you’ve been engaged with Ethereum for some time, you recognize that ethereum.org has long required an update.

Nonetheless, that delay has had a positive aspect: the Ethereum community embraced the task of creating and sustaining documentation, community educational resources, and learning materials — all while onboarding new users and developers. If you contributed in any way to those efforts over the years: thank you.

We aspire that the re-launch of ethereum.org as an open-source gateway to the community will perpetuate that vital trend. Ultimately, there’s no superior way to represent Ethereum to the world than by upholding that ethos of decentralization and autonomy.
