I’m not here to proclaim “I warned you.”

In my Take dated October 4, I stated that Donald Trump has no genuine concern for Bitcoin, and in my Take from November 5, I mentioned he merely wishes to partake in the crypto deception. However, I didn’t bring up Ross Ulbricht in either instance, mainly because I anticipated Trump would at least uphold his commitment to liberate Ross. It’s a straightforward promise to fulfill, posing no real risk for Trump; after more than a decade of incarceration, Ulbricht is deserving of freedom.

Conversely, I didn’t specifically foresee Trump releasing Ross on the first day of his presidency. Inauguration day is undoubtedly a hectic event for a newly inaugurated president, I have no doubt.

That being said, it is exactly what Trump himself stated he would do. Naturally, Trump also claimed he would have settled the conflict in Ukraine by this time — they are, however, still engaged in combat.

Trump is a liar. He will articulate whatever he desires or what individuals want to hear, showing no concern for the veracity. He likely holds the record for the most documented falsehoods of any politician globally: Fact checkers from The Washington Post have identified over 30,000 misleading or untrue statements during his initial term as president alone.

Nevertheless, it is also accurate that Trump had a filled schedule yesterday. He enacted 26 executive orders (a historic figure for a new president’s first day), and granted clemency to over 1500 of his followers; those who breached the US Capitol Building on January 6th four years prior. Indeed, this implies that the QAnon Shaman is free before Ross Ulbricht (H/T Trey Walsh)… but let’s just remain hopeful that Elon Musk is vindicated in the coming days, and Ross will also be liberated.
