Have you ever been curious about participating in the creation of the foundational Ethereum protocols? If that’s the case, there is a new initiative to talk about that is aimed at you. As a part of an EF protocol-support project, I’m thrilled to reveal the “Core Developer Apprenticeship Program”.

    What to anticipate

Greetings 👋, I’m Piper Merriam. I’ve been engaged with the Ethereum ecosystem for some time. It’s been an exhilarating journey. I’m fairly confident this is the finest position I will ever hold. This initiative is my approach to assisting more individuals in discovering their path toward impactful and intriguing engineering tasks. Each day, I collaborate with exceptionally intelligent and diligent individuals on a state-of-the-art protocol. With the backing of the Ethereum Foundation, I’m eager to provide more people the chance to find their niche in this ecosystem.

    A few particulars:

    • Applications are open until May 31st: Apply here
    • Program runs from mid-June to mid-September
    • Participants will identify and outline a project focused on enhancing the core Ethereum protocols.
    • Participants will have direct access to the core development community across various organizations and teams.

The program will offer participants a chance to acquire extensive knowledge of the Ethereum protocols, along with giving them firsthand experience in how protocol development operates and how they can engage in that process.

    Influencing Ethereum

Core protocol development isn’t simple work, but it is fascinating, challenging, and fulfilling (at least it is for me). Unfortunately, this task also presents a significant barrier to entry. It necessitates a high level of proficiency in the protocols themselves. It requires a deep comprehension of various engineering concepts. It demands exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. This program’s aim is to provide a more accessible pathway to overcome these obstacles and to equip you with the foundational support and guidance that propels you into collaborating closely with me and all the other “core devs.”

My involvement with Ethereum is the most significant “lever” I possess to affect change in the world. There are numerous compelling and challenging issues awaiting your attention. Who else is eager to help shape the world alongside me?
