    Kiln🧱🔥 is operational, explore it

A week prior, the Kiln🧱🔥 testnet successfully transitioned through the Merge to transform from a PoW testnet into a fully operational PoS testnet.

If you operate validators on Mainnet, now is the moment to evaluate your post-merge configurations. Dive into the Kiln homepage and explore.

    Seriously. It’s time.

    #TestingTheMerge is progressing vigorously. Contribute!

The transition from PoW to PoS on Kiln encountered some challenges. An encoding glitch led to Prysm generating invalid blocks, while various execution clients faced other sync-related issues during the transformation.

Although clients are now fully featured and approaching production readiness, minor software imperfections are still emerging here and there. While these are not core specification and research issues, this reinforces something we’ve asserted for quite some time — security and testing will play a crucial role in determining the ultimate Merge release schedule.

In this regard, client teams, security analysts, and testers are intensifying testing efforts across the board for the next 4+ weeks in preparation for enhancing the public testnets. These initiatives encompass hive testing, Kurtosis testnet developments, Antithesis guided network fuzzing, shadow-forking Goerli and Mainnet, manual code assessments, fuzzing throughout the stack, enhancing consensus evaluations, and more!

Regarding fuzzing, we want to extend a huge thank you to Blockdaemon for providing the Merge testing initiative with $900k in IBM Cloud credits! Fuzzing revolves around allocating more resources to the challenge than your opponent, so with these credits, we’re confident in our ability to uncover all existing bugs. Thank you 🙏

    Participate!

The #TestingTheMerge initiative is in full swing. Whether you’re running a validator on Kiln, testing your developer process, crafting a tutorial, enhancing documentation, or devising a new unique fuzzer, every👏single👏contribution👏matters👏!

This is the most significant blockchain upgrade ever. No doubt about it. Thus, do your part to ensure its success — join us in the Eth R&D Discord in the Merge #testing channel 🚀
