Do you take pleasure in tackling engaging and demanding challenges? Are you keen on participating at the most fundamental level of the Ethereum protocol?
The Protocol Support Team (EF) is thrilled to share that applications are now open for the third cohort of the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship (previously known as Core Developer Apprenticeship Program (CDAP))!
With the Merge approaching (58750000000000000000000 🥳), Ethereum core developers are eager for the next phases of the protocol’s progress and are in search of skilled and dedicated individuals to assist in creating a more powerful and resilient Ethereum network.
Introducing the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship.
What exactly is the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship (EPF)?
The EPF aims to onboard developers into the process by which protocol development occurs. It presents a chance to delve deeply into the protocol and acquire knowledge while collaborating closely with peers on similar learning paths, as well as the core development community.
Engaging in core protocol development is not simple; however, it is fascinating, demanding, and fulfilling. Regrettably, this work also has significant hurdles. It necessitates a high level of fluency in the protocols themselves. It requires a comprehensive understanding of various engineering principles. It calls for exceptional written and spoken communication skills. The goal of this initiative is to offer a smoother entry point to overcome these obstacles and to provide initial support and direction to propel you into working alongside core developers.

Previous Cohorts
EPF has previously conducted two successful cohorts. During this period, former cohort members have:
- Developed an alternative approach for documenting and specifying the Ethereum protocol.
- Investigated how we can alter or eliminate the SELFDESTRUCT opcode
- Assisted in constructing ZKSync
- Expanded new peer-to-peer networks for the Portal Network.
- Created their own version of the EVM
- 10 alumni from the cohort now work full-time on core protocol development and 5 others are engaged in related sectors of the industry.
Make a Genuine Impact
Core protocol development is crucial in maintaining and enhancing the multi-billion dollar Ethereum protocol; a protocol we believe is vital for fostering a more just and equitable future for humanity. Are you interested in joining us to build a future that excites you?
