The Protocol Security Research Team along with the Ecosystem Funding Initiative at the Ethereum Foundation are excited to introduce the ETH Rangers program aimed at incentivizing Public Goods Security initiatives for the Ethereum Ecosystem.
Public Goods Security Initiatives
ETH Rangers provides stipends to assist individuals committed to contributing to public goods security projects within the Ethereum ecosystem. Over a six-month period, selected participants will each receive $25,000 USD.
What kinds of tasks are regarded as Public Goods Security initiatives?
Public Goods Security tasks encompass activities aimed at improving the safety and durability of the Ethereum ecosystem. This might include endeavors such as vulnerability assessments, producing educational resources, offering pro-bono incident management or audits, or creating tools and frameworks that support the community. The objective is to back projects and individuals focused on securing Ethereum’s infrastructure and cultivating a strong, trustless environment for everyone.
Can I submit an application if I’m currently working in public goods security?
Absolutely, being presently employed in public goods security does not exclude you from applying. We seek individuals who can devote significant time to advancing Ethereum’s public goods security, regardless of whether they are employed or independent.

Key Dates
- Nov 21, 2024: Wave-1 applications open.
- Dec 31, 2024: Deadline for Wave-1 applications.
- Jan 20, 2025: Recipients chosen.
- July 20, 2025: Final work reports due, followed by disbursement of the remaining stipend.
