Firstly, we appreciate your understanding during the excitement and conjecture regarding our upcoming destination. Following a memorable experience in Bogotá for Devcon VI, we decided to arrange Devcon 7 for 2024. A principal reason behind this choice was our aim to enhance Devcon’s influence on local Ethereum communities. The extra time enables us to engage more deeply with these regional groups, providing assistance and empowerment in a more impactful manner.
We are now poised to transform Devcon 7 into a more inclusive and regionally centered event. To reflect this vision, we’ll refer to it as “Devcon Southeast Asia,” instead of highlighting the host city.

The Ethereum community in Southeast Asia is brimming with potential, clearly demonstrated by its swiftly increasing crypto acceptance. Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand are frontrunners in the Global Crypto Adoption Index, highlighting the region’s essential role within the global Ethereum ecosystem.
Southeast Asia is a vibrant blend of various cultures, rich histories, and communities, and our goal is to immerse the entire region in the Devcon experience. From the lively streets of Kuala Lumpur to the breathtaking vistas of Bali, from the tech hub of Singapore to the historical allure of Vietnam, this area bursts with energy. And Bangkok, with its distinctive combination of tradition and progress, is an ideal location in terms of venue appropriateness and global reach.

In recent months, we’ve commenced the Road To Devcon (RTD) Grants round. This initiative emerged from our dedication to fostering the emergence of new Ethereum events, grassroots communities, and educational projects throughout Southeast Asia. We are thrilled to witness the excitement and creative proposals coming in from Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, and other nearby Southeast Asian nations.
To everyone we’ve backed so far, a huge shout-out! Your projects and efforts have been instrumental in paving the way for the Ethereum community in Southeast Asia.
