Today we are delighted to reveal a new leadership framework for privacy-oriented initiatives at the Ethereum Foundation:

Igor Barinov assumes the role of coordinator for Privacy @ EF, steering strategy and coordination across privacy-centric initiatives including PSE and beyond. Igor boasts over ten years of expertise in the Ethereum ecosystem as the creator of Blockscout, Gnosis Chain, and zkBob, and champions open-source solutions and privacy.

Andy Guzman will now take on the role of coordinator for the (PSE) team, succeeding Sam Richards and leading applied cryptography, research, and development efforts. Andy has been part of PSE/EF since 2022, overseeing various critical product & strategy projects since then.
Together, Igor and Andy will ensure Ethereum’s privacy initiatives are effective, cohesive, and responsible.
A structure built around real use cases
Within the Privacy @ EF Cluster, PSE directs its efforts across research, product, engineering, and operations, with leaders set in place to concentrate on each area. This framework bolsters three fundamental pillars of privacy:

Private Reads: allowing individuals and organizations to query, authenticate, and explore without scrutiny.

Private Writes: safeguarding actions such as payments, governance, and transfers from unwelcome exposure.

Private Proving: streamlining proofs to be efficient, portable, and applicable across scenarios like identities, data portability, and client-side verification.
Each pillar addresses the requirements of users, developers, and institutions. They assist individuals in evading the risks of metadata leaks and are essential for organizations to meet data protection regulations. They safeguard our private financial details, allowing us to select what information to reveal while shielding our identities from theft.
Private reads, writes, and proofs constitute the foundational elements for privacy which subsequently facilitate everything from safeguarding your salary, verifying your age, to protecting organizations from data breaches.
