The development of Ethereum commenced in December 2013 when two programmers and a university dropout researcher decided to collaborate and create this remarkable technology. Later, we were<\/span> joined<\/span><\/a> by numerous like-minded individuals. Our initial Proof of Concept (PoC) was presented on February 1, 2014. By the time we initiated our crowdsale on July 23, we had reached PoC 5 with a protocol that was nearly complete and had established compatibility across various clients. The team was thrilled when we obtained our first million, then our second and third, and so forth. It was astonishing! While believing in our ability to deliver the Ethereum platform was one aspect, witnessing others’ belief and eagerness to engage was incredibly motivating.<\/span><\/p>\n

Somewhat later in October 2014, Gav and I found ourselves on a train heading to Zurich airport when we realized that hosting an Ethereum conference would be exceptionally exciting, and we decided to arrange it for November of the same year. It was quite chaotic for those involved in organizing it (thanks Aeron, Christian & Jason!), but we succeeded as we were determined to hold our first internal developers conference, <\/span>DEV<\/b>con0<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

By January 2015, we all recognized that this would be the year we needed to launch our beta version of Ethereum. Our PoC series concluded with the PoC 9 hackathon on March 5th, and on July 30, 2015, we successfully inaugurated Frontier. Miners from around the world activated their mining rigs, users initiated their nodes, and the network sprang to life. It functioned; no glitches, no problems, and from a development standpoint, the release couldn’t have proceeded more smoothly. In the subsequent months, our team and community showcased their potential and true excellence in addressing issues on the network and collaboratively resolving two consensus bugs.<\/span><\/p>\n

We deemed it vital to convey to our users our perspective on the network’s security. Today, we are exceedingly proud to declare that we are finally ready to eliminate the crossed-out term \u201csafe\u201d from our website as we enter a new phase: Homestead. The Homestead block will be 1.150.000<\/strong> for the main network, signifying that the Homestead transition will occur approximately around midday on Pi Day, while the Homestead block for the Morden network will be 494.000<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
