Many newcomers struggle to grasp our dynamic and decentralized ecosystem since they\u2019ve never encountered anything similar before.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n When an individual (be it a major enterprise, a government, or an everyday person) enters our realm, the Ethereum Foundation is frequently their initial point of contact. The first aspect we tend to clarify is that the Ethereum ecosystem is decentralized and not owned or operated by any single foundation or organization. Our Foundation helps to represent Ethereum to the outside world as an effective conduit through which individuals can access the ecosystem itself.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We also recognize a necessity to be more proactive in expanding the Ethereum ecosystem, onboarding developers, and enhancing the developer experience. We have intentionally adopted a philosophy of subtraction<\/strong>, which influences everything we undertake.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In simple terms, adhering to a philosophy of subtraction means combating the natural inclination of organizations to expand and accumulate value within<\/em> themselves, and ensuring instead that this value is generated outside<\/em> the Foundation within the broader Ethereum ecosystem.<\/p>\n Rather than seizing opportunities for our own gain, we distribute those opportunities to the community. Instead of consolidating everything internally, we allocate our resources externally to teams throughout the ecosystem. We do not compete with the ecosystem \u2014 we are delighted when other organizations generate value, as that indicates Ethereum is becoming increasingly decentralized and sustainable.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Ethereum Foundation flourishes if Ethereum<\/em> flourishes, and Ethereum flourishes with a robust decentralized community. That principle governs our approach to work.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The past year has marked a pivotal period for Ethereum, and we have exerted great effort to assist teams throughout the ecosystem. Covering all the strides made by teams aided by the EF in this correspondence is unattainable, but here is a curated selection:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n ETH 2.0 client teams<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n ETH 2.0 refers to a series of groundbreaking updates for the Ethereum protocol. Last year, this undertaking transitioned from a research initiative to an engineering project. Client teams supported by the Foundation, such as Nimbus, Prysm, Sigma Prime, and Substrate Shasper, are among those striving to make ETH 2.0 a reality.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In recent months, the Nimbus<\/a>, Prysm<\/a>, and Sigma Prime\u2019s<\/a> Lighthouse testnets have been launched. These teams and others are currently stabilizingand enhancing their clients, preparing for multi-client testnets.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Numerous resources are transitioning into testing, fuzzing, and audits over the next several months. We have enlisted Runtime Verification<\/a> to officially validate the deposit contract<\/a> and to formally articulate the Beacon Chain.
