Today, we\u2019re unveiling our next significant content initiative that is primed for translations. It comprises a substantial amount of content, thereby located in Crowdin across v2.0, v2.1, and v2.2. These versions encompass the following pages:<\/p>\n

At present, the ethereum.org website is supporting 33 languages, yet 25 languages are still a work in progress on Crowdin. We are observing greater demand from smaller language communities, hence we’ve incorporated more regional languages into Crowdin.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Our objective is to enhance the accessibility of ethereum.org for users globally, irrespective of language and region. We are making progress, and we believe that with your collaboration (and by functioning as a community), we will reach our goal.<\/p>\n

A revamped UX for ethereum.org translations<\/h2>\n
<\/p>\n
Despite the increase in traffic for translated pages, we\u2019ve observed that the growth in relation to overall traffic has diminished this year. As illustrated below, the pageviews for translated pages approached nearly 20% of total unique pageviews in February but have since dropped to 10% in recent times.<\/p>\n

We believe that this decline results from our extensive expansion of English content significantly<\/em> over the past few months, making translated content appear outdated. Consequently, a greater number of users are returning to the English website.<\/p>\n

Modifications to the language sites<\/h2>\n
<\/p>\n
We are concerned that users accessing the site in other languages are missing out on the most recent information, which is solely present in English. Therefore, we are instituting the following alterations:<\/p>\n

- If a page isn\u2019t available in your preferred language, we will showcase the English content alongside the banner below (which will be translated in your selected language). This ensures you will always access the most current content, even if we haven\u2019t yet translated it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Updates to the translation initiative<\/h2>\n

To concentrate on the latest website translation, we\u2019ve concealed outdated versions (v.1.0 and v.1.1) in CrowdIn. The previously translated material in older versions is preserved in our project\u2019s Translation Memory. This will facilitate swifter translation of the new versions by pre-translating similar or identical strings.<\/p>\n

- Updating new versions: v.2.x<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
<\/p>\n
As previously mentioned, to translate all new content, we\u2019ve divided it into several minor versions: v.2.0, v.2.1, and v.2.2. We have assigned these numbers in accordance with priority. We encourage you to start with the lowest version first and gradually work your way to higher versions. If you wish to translate higher versions, that\u2019s perfectly acceptable too, but we will upload these later following the lower versions.<\/p>\n

For many, 2020 was a demanding year. We are profoundly grateful for the community\u2019s relentless enthusiasm and continual contributions during this trying period.
