However, digging deeper into the actions of the former FTX executive and his then-girlfriend, Michelle Bond, led to <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ftx-partner-michelle-bond-campaign-finance-charges\">charges against Bond<\/a> related to campaign finance issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not in the business of gotcha or tricking people into pleading guilty,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/innercitypress.bsky.social\/post\/3m637tgcll22l\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Sassoon stated<\/a>, referring to the charges against Bond following Salame&#8217;s plea.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"100 Years in Jail?! She claims that prosecutors \u201cinduced a guilty plea\u201d from Salame. If her case wraps up, it would likely mark the end of the legal troubles that began when FTX declared bankruptcy back in November 2022.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Related: <\/strong><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/three-years-ftx-collapse-crypto-creditors-exchangeearns-back-trust\"><em><strong>Three Years After FTX\u2019s Collapse: Creditors Wait While the Industry Rebuilds Trust<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bond has pleaded not guilty to charges including conspiracy to cause unlawful campaign contributions, as well as causing and receiving excessive and unlawful contributions. <\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">These charges link back to Salame allegedly directing $400,000 from FTX funds towards Bond\u2019s 2022 campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<h2>It\u2019s Been Three Years Since FTX Collapsed\u2026 Who&#8217;s Doing Time?<\/h2>\n<p>Salame <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/convicted-ftx-executive-ryan-salame-officially-prison-custody\">started serving his seven-and-a-half-year sentence<\/a> in October 2024. Caroline Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research, pled guilty and is now serving a two-year sentence since November 2024.<\/p>\n<p data-ct-non-breakable=\"undefined\">Two other former executives, Nishad Singh and Gary Wang, also pled guilty and received sentences of time served.<\/p>\n<p>As for Bankman-Fried, he&#8217;s still in the spotlight. He has been behind bars since August 2023 after a judge revoked his bail over witness intimidation claims. He was eventually tried, found guilty, and sentenced to 25 years in prison, drawing significant attention from the crypto community.<\/p>\n<p><template data-ct-widget=\"buzzsprout\" data-buzzsprout-podcast-id=\"2040516\" data-buzzsprout-episode-id=\"18190687\"\/><\/p>\n<p>On November 4, SBF\u2019s lawyers <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/ftx-sam-bankman-fried-returns-court-appeal\">made an appearance in court<\/a> to argue for overturning his conviction and sentence.
