The conjecture began when a user known as WhalePump Reborn <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WhalePumpReborn\/status\/1985390853787881732\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">asserted that Wintermute<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> had incurred hundreds of millions in losses and was contemplating legal action, characterizing the scenario as \u201cnot going to end well.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><h2 class=\"jeg_block_title\"><span>Related Reading<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Following this, another comprehensive post from a well-known X account called StarPlatinum, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StarPlatinumSOL\/status\/1985420820923965738\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">which discussed the rumors that<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Wintermute was taking legal steps against Binance over alleged unfair ADL executions during the significant liquidation episode in early October.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As pointed out in the post, Binance\u2019s system congestion during the crash resulted in automatic deleveraging (ADL) at extreme price levels, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbtc.com\/news\/crypto-crash-19-5-billion-wiped-out-in-record-breaking-liquidation-event\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">leading to an estimated<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> $19 billion to $20 billion in liquidations within just 24 hours, the largest single-day loss in the history of crypto.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is worth mentioning that Wintermute\u2019s portfolio across Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Solana declined by approximately $65 million subsequent to the crash, although no on-chain indicators suggested forced liquidations or substantial withdrawals. Binance, for its part, had acknowledged system overloads during that period but claimed there was no preferential treatment or technical issue that could have resulted in any unfair losses.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"ftoc-heading-2\" class=\"ftwp-heading\">Wintermute Founder Denies Lawsuit Allegations<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As fear spread throughout the market, Wintermute\u2019s founder, Evgeny Gaevoy, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EvgenyGaevoy\/status\/1985454575432663080\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">took to X to<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> nullify the rumors completely. Citing an earlier post from October 11, Gaevoy reiterated that Wintermute had no intentions of suing Binance and saw no justification to pursue such actions in the future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe have never contemplated suing Binance, nor do we find any reason to do so in the future,\u201d Gaevoy stated on X. \u201cI should probably request to take note of everyone spreading unfounded rumors, but most of those believing these have short memories, so I won\u2019t,\u201d he added. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He further characterized the circulating assertions as complete nonsense <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EvgenyGaevoy\/status\/1985453309994410022\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in direct response to<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the WhalePump Reborn post.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><h2 class=\"jeg_block_title\"><span>Related Reading<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Wintermute allegations form part of multiple factors contributing to the decline in cryptocurrency prices.
