Strategy co-founder Michael Saylor indicated that Strategy would recommence Bitcoin (BTC<\/a>) purchases on Monday following a week-long pause in acquiring the digital currency.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome weeks, you don\u2019t merely HODL,\u201d the executive noted<\/a> on Sunday. The company did not acquire BTC last week but announced a capital raise of $4.2 billion<\/a>. Prior to the break, Strategy amassed 12 consecutive weeks of BTC purchases.<\/p>\n

Strategy\u2019s latest BTC acquisition<\/a> took place on June 30, when the firm purchased 4,980 BTC for $532 million, raising its total to 597,325 BTC, worth over $70.9 billion.<\/p>\n

Company shares are currently trading at approximately $434 and have increased over 16% this month, yet still fall short of the all-time peak of $543 per share reached in November 2024.<\/p>\n

Bitcoin treasury firms<\/a> are now significant contenders in the Bitcoin market, acquiring BTC at a quicker pace than it is mined. This demand could lead to a supply shock<\/a> and elevate prices, though some analysts caution that debt-driven institutional BTC purchases are unsustainable<\/a> and may instigate a systemic market downturn.<\/p>\n

Bitcoin treasury firms surpassing newly-mined supply<\/h2>\n

Bitcoin treasury companies acquired 159,107 BTC in Q2<\/a>, led by Strategy, which stands as the largest corporate holder of BTC, as per BitcoinTreasuries<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At present, 3.5 million BTC are held in institutional treasuries, encompassing public companies, private entities, crypto businesses, governmental organizations, pension funds, and asset managers, data<\/a> from the site indicates.<\/p>\n

In April, Adam Livingston, the author of “The Great Harvest: AI, Labor, and the Bitcoin Lifeline,” asserted that Strategy is \u201csynthetically halving\u201d Bitcoin<\/a> through swift accumulation of the digital currency.<\/p>\n

Miners produce around 450 BTC daily, equaling approximately 13,500 BTC monthly, while Strategy has gathered 379,800 BTC over six months, according to Livingston.<\/p>\n
