Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs subsequently <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/arizona-governor-signs-bitcoin-reserve-keep-unclaimed-crypto\" title=\"null\">ratified a law<\/a> permitting the state to claim ownership over unclaimed cryptocurrencies. Some localities have rejected attempts to pass comparable legislation, with around half of the 50 state governments considering a Bitcoin reserve.<\/p>\n<h2>New administration aims for the US government to hodl<\/h2>\n<p>At the federal level, US President Donald Trump <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/donald-trump-signs-executive-order-strategic-bitcoin-reserve\" title=\"null\">executed an executive order<\/a> (EO) in March for a \u201cStrategic Bitcoin Reserve\u201d and a \u201cDigital Asset Stockpile,\u201d though Congress had not formalized the order as of May 23. Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis has spearheaded initiatives in the chamber to pass the Boosting Innovation, Technology, and Competitiveness through Optimized Investment Nationwide, or BITCOIN, Act, <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/senator-cynthia-lummis-new-bitcoin-act-one-million-btc\" title=\"null\">reintroduced shortly<\/a> after Trump\u2019s EO.<\/p>\n<p><template data-ct-widget=\"buzzsprout\" data-buzzsprout-podcast-id=\"2040516\" data-buzzsprout-episode-id=\"17214625\"\/><\/p>\n<p>As of March 11, the bill has been directed to the Senate Banking Committee, and it remains uncertain if or when the chamber will consider a vote.
