At Strategy World 2025<\/a>, Michael Saylor<\/a> delivered a daring statement to technology behemoths like Microsoft: forgo the stock repurchases and invest in Bitcoin instead.<\/p>\n

\u201cMicrosoft is planning a buyback,\u201d Saylor remarked. \u201cAcquiring Bitcoin would be 10x superior to repurchasing their own shares.\u201d Supported by evidence, he presented the argument that corporate reserves are leaving substantial potential gains unexploited by adhering to traditional capital practices.<\/p>\n

In the past five years, Microsoft shares have yielded an impressive 18% yearly return. However, Bitcoin? It has surged by 62% annually during that same period. \u201cIf capital costs rise to the S&P 500 at 14%, Microsoft is exceeding by 4%. Bitcoin is exceeding by 48%,\u201d Saylor insisted. \u201cBonds, by the way, are down 5%\u2014underperforming by 19%.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Saylor, Bitcoin<\/a> is not merely a better-performing asset\u2014it is a fundamentally distinct kind of asset. \u201cIt\u2019s digital capital,\u201d he explained. \u201cEverything digital is superior. Digital images are better. Digital relationships, digital communications, digital videos. Don\u2019t take my word for it? Ask Kodak. Ask Polaroid.\u201d<\/p>\n

He likened Bitcoin to an invisible, untouchable, and eternal digital structure. \u201cEverything you dislike about a tangible building, that it\u2019s visible and can be managed by the city\u2019s regulations and exposed to environmental factors\u2014everything you dislike about it vanishes,\u201d he stated. \u201cInstead, the structure becomes imperceptible, indestructible, eternal, and teleportable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saylor contended that a corporation like Microsoft\u2014which established its supremacy on digital frameworks\u2014should now be sustained by digital capital. \u201cMicrosoft should operate on digital capital,\u201d he stated plainly.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n

He also highlighted Bitcoin\u2019s distinctive benefit as an uncorrelated asset. \u201cYou\u2019re going to maintain something on your balance sheet that\u2019s not linked to anything else,\u201d he remarked. \u201cYou can pursue stock buybacks, distribute your cash flow as dividends, or you can welcome the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Saylor, that future is evident. A company holding billions in cash should assess the advantages of Bitcoin\u2014a decentralized, borderless, censorship-resistant asset with the finest performance history<\/a> of the last decade.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou must discover something that\u2019s not vulnerable to competition, nations, corporations, creditors, currencies, or cultures,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s Bitcoin.\u201d<\/p>\n
