Safeguarding the intellectual assets of Filipino inventors may assist in mitigating the brain drain in the Philippines, stated the Department of Science and Technology (DoST).
“When we support a specific innovator for their intellectual property, we don’t merely provide funding; we don’t just submit their protection claims,” Marion Ivy D. Decena, director of DoST-Technology Application & Promotion Institute (TAPI), conveyed to BusinessWorld during an interview.
“We also inform them about the necessity of filing domestically in the Philippines before seeking protection elsewhere,” she remarked.
