DEVcon Returns: A Celebration of Ethereum Innovation!

DevCon 1 will occur in London from November 9-13, just over a hundred days after the inception of the Ethereum network. In recent months, we have witnessed the network evolve from a few hundred nodes initiated on that memorable and unique evening to a significantly robust, globally distributed stable platform with thousands of developers striving for the decentralization revolution that drives and fuels our passion.

DevCon will feature three main categories of subjects:

  • Fundamental research and core protocols: encompassing proof of stake, scalability, networking protocols, privacy, and zero-knowledge proofs, along with some of the more mathematical dimensions of decentralized protocols like stablecoins, prediction markets, and reputation systems. This segment will be structured to resemble an academic conference, in some respects reflecting the ethos of Cryptoeconomicon.
  • Dapp creation: concentrating on the practical obstacles of building applications on the Ethereum platform and effective design methodologies to enhance security, efficiency, developer productivity, and user experience. This section will be designed to mimic a programming language developer convention, for instance http://nodejsconf.it/
  • Sector and societal implications: covering IoT, finance, government, supply chain tracking, notarization, identity, and reputation. This portion will be crafted to engage industry and mainstream audiences, especially those outside the Ethereum sphere who aim to comprehend its functionalities and how their initiatives can leverage the technology, along with other interested stakeholders like policymakers and investors.

The summit will occur over five days from November 9-13 in London at the Gibson Hall. The initial half of the week will center around research and dapp creation, while the latter half will address industry and societal implications. We’ll also discuss how development will progress following the platform’s launch, along with the forthcoming trajectory of the foundation as an organization. We aspire that throughout the week, you will gain insights and forge connections necessary to capitalize on the opportunities Ethereum offers.

There will be keynote presentations from several core development team members, providing updates on progress and some exciting new initiatives, and as much as feasible, we will strive to livestream the event so that those who cannot attend can participate as well.

A highlight of the week will be a spotlight on the dapps being developed by the community – a showcase, if you will, of all the remarkable activities taking place on the Ethereum platform. Anticipate presentations from development teams sharing insights gained, along with in-depth discussions regarding the new enterprises and business models empowered by the Ethereum platform. If you believe you have something valuable to contribute, do not hesitate to reach out to us at info@ethereum.org.

A dedicated website will soon be available at http://devcon.ethereum.org and we will update details regarding pricing, agenda, sponsorships, and more as information becomes accessible.
