We would like to commend the Ethereum community on the successful execution of a hard fork. Block 1920000 involved the implementation of an atypical state alteration that migrated approximately 12 million ETH from the “Dark DAO” and “Whitehat DAO” contracts into the WithdrawDAO recovery contract. The fork event itself proceeded effectively, with about 85% of miners operating on the fork:
You can observe the ongoing progress of the fork here. EthStats indicates that Go, Java, and Parity (Rust) nodes have successfully synchronized with the fork chain.
The recovery contract is already disbursing ether to DAO token holders; approximately 4.5 million ETH has been directed to DAO token holders, and about 463000 ETH is under the oversight of the curator; a contract designed to manage extrabalance payments is in the process of a security assessment.
Participants who only wish to engage with the fork chain must upgrade their clients to a fork-compatible version if they haven’t done so already; the updated Go client (version 1.4.10) is obtainable here. If any participants continue to have an interest in the non-fork chain, they should still perform updates but operate with the –oppose-dao-fork flag activated, while being cautious of transaction replay attacks and taking necessary measures to protect against them; users devoid of interest in the non-fork chain need not be concerned about transaction replay attack issues.
