Cancer impacts more than 5,000 youngsters in the Philippines each year. While it is highly manageable, delayed diagnoses and other factors lead to the nation’s low survival rate of merely 30%.
In this B-Side episode, we engage with Dr. Ana Patricia A. Alcasabas, the head of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and chair of the National Sub-Technical Working Group for Childhood Cancer, as she elaborates on the country’s obstacles in combatting childhood cancer.
She also shares insights on pediatric cancer treatment at PGH and how the organization spearheads projects aimed at enhancing care nationwide.
