Each year, over 5,000 youngsters in the Philippines are affected by cancer. Despite being highly manageable, delayed diagnoses and various other aspects lead to a survival rate in the country of merely 30%.

In this B-Side episode, we converse with Dr. Ana Patricia A. Alcasabas, head of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and chairperson of the National Sub-Technical Working Group for Childhood Cancer, as she elaborates on the nation’s difficulties in combatting childhood cancer.

She also elaborates on the cancer treatment for children at PGH and how the institution spearheads efforts to enhance care nationwide.
