Transforming Ethereum.org: A Journey Through Cycles of Innovation

We are transforming our approach to building ethereum.org. As of January 20th, we have implemented Shape Up cycles – concentrated 6-week development phases followed by 2-week cooldowns. For Cycle 1, all projects listed below are set to launch by the close of February – with no automatic transitions to the subsequent cycle.

Quick clarification: this roadmap pertains to ethereum.org the site, not Ethereum the protocol.

In our inaugural cycle, we will deliver the following projects by the end of February:

Core ethereum.org enhancements

Interactive roadmap 🛣️

Enhancing Vitalik’s Ethereum roadmap to be more accessible for beginners and interactive, supporting newcomers in grasping Ethereum’s growth and prospects.

Listen-to-learn 🎧

Integrating audio functionalities for important pages, allowing users to listen to articles instead of reading them.

Web3 integration 🔗

Introducing native Web3 features to ethereum.org for the first time – wallet connections and direct access to dapps.

Dashboard hub 📊

Establishing a central hub for essential Ethereum tracking tools and community resources. Join our Discord to recommend dashboards you believe should be featured!

Content enhancements 📚

Refresh of existing content

One of our main objectives is to keep our documentation aligned with Ethereum’s swift advancements. We’re undertaking a thorough update of existing content throughout the site.

New educational materials

Collaborating with freelance authors to broaden our educational offerings and address content gaps.

Pectra enhancements

Preparing ethereum.org materials for the Pectra upgrade to ensure our community comprehends these significant protocol updates.

Translation standards 🌍

Establishing new frameworks to elevate and uphold translation quality across all languages.

Experience for non-English speakers 🌐

Investigating methods to enhance the experience for non-English individuals beyond translations. This might involve improved feedback mechanisms, UI advancements, or reorganizing content – we will evaluate various approaches throughout this cycle.

Migration of UI components 💨

Collaborating with a current community contributor to completely transition from Chakra to Shadcn UI components by the end of the cycle.

App router migration ⚡

Adopting server components to enhance performance and loading speeds.

Ecosystem initiatives

ethproofs.org 🔍

Coming very soon™: A new platform to monitor zkVM features, supporting Ethereum’s path toward beam chain and snarkification.

Launchpad enhancements ⚡

Revamping launchpad.ethereum.org to accommodate MAXEB modifications for validators.

Project assistance 🎨

  • Robust Incentives Group (RIG): Assisting the EF research team with branding, web design, and development
  • Geodework Project: Branding and website design (more details coming soon!)

Social media outreach 📱

Launching a more active presence across various platforms to enhance engagement with the Ethereum community. Initial emphasis:

  • More frequent updates regarding our efforts and progress
  • Spotlighting community contributions
  • Sharing educational materials
  • Fostering stronger connections within the ecosystem

Future outlook

Following the conclusion of Cycle 1 in February, we will observe a 2-week cooldown to assess our deliverables and strategize for the next cycle. We will provide an update during the cooldown period to share what we accomplished and what insights we gained!
