Least Authority Phase 0 audit finalized
As mentioned several months ago, we partnered with Least Authority to perform a comprehensive audit of the Phase 0 specifications. The audit was thorough and involved an in-depth examination of potential DoS attacks, resource misuse, unintended forks/chains, and threats to funds.
The audit is now finalized and accessible for public examination 🎉.
The Least Authority audit guided us in addressing a few DoS vectors in gossip messages through additional validation conditions (Issues A & B), emphasized a known issue concerning the public block proposer leader election (Issues C & D), and encouraged further exploration into potential DoS attacks utilizing libp2p gossipsub control messages (Issue G).
In addition to these specific concerns, the audit offered recommendations for refining the p2p spec, exploring techniques to enhance gossip, and obtaining peer reviews for the core consensus papers/proofs.
A big shoutout to Least Authority. It was a pleasure collaborating with their numerous auditors on this initiative!
Phase 0 Pre-Launch Bounty Program
We’re thrilled to introduce the Phase 0 Pre-Launch Bounty Program!
This initiative is aimed at motivating you (with rewards up to $10k!) to identify and report bugs within the core Eth2 Phase 0 specs before the mainnet launch 🐛.
The Ethereum Foundation will manage this program from now until shortly before the Phase 0 mainnet launch. After Phase 0 is in production, we will transfer Phase 0 bounties to the standard Ethereum Bounty Program.

Unification of eth1+eth2 communications
Something remarkable has been occurring since deVcon in Osaka. Under Piper’s guidance, the ambiguous eth1x research initiative has evolved into the Stateless Ethereum movement, complete with a clear roadmap and extensive engagement across the ecosystem.
This movement complements the eth2 scaling initiatives, and the research, specifications, development, and discussions surrounding both eth1 and eth2 are increasingly intertwined. To support this collaborative endeavor shaping the future of Ethereum, communications for eth1 and eth2 have recently been integrated into the Eth R&D discord server
