ENS
ENS (Ethereum Name Service) operates on the Ethereum blockchain, but it’s not exclusively for ETH addresses! ENS associates human-friendly domain names with locations throughout the decentralized web, encompassing ethereum and various blockchain addresses, Tor .onion addresses, decentralized websites, and data hashes housed on IPFS, among others. ENS continues to broaden its reach, with recent integrations that include:
That’s only part of the story – check out the ENS 2020 Recap for a summary of an eventful year, follow ENS on Twitter @ensdomains, and explore the 2021 roadmap to discover what’s next.
Textile and 3box for IPLD Object signing and encryption
IPLD is a data structuring framework employed in IPFS. Textile and 3Box collaborated to receive a joint grant, co-funded with Protocol Labs, to develop a signing and encryption standard aimed at enhancing composability and interoperability among web3 applications while preserving user data ownership. All initiatives supported by this grant have now been finalized, including:
Ethereum developers can now incorporate JOSE standards such as JWE and JWS into their IPLD-based dApps, and there’s more to follow! This endeavor is part of a long-term strategy to boost data interoperability across IPFS/IPLD-based applications and tools. For additional information, you can follow principal researchers carsonfarmer and oed, who are actively engaging with the community surrounding this project; keep up with Textile on Twitter @textileio, blog.textile.io or Slack; and follow 3box on Twitter @3boxdb, medium.com/3box or Discord!
bitfly for beaconcha.in eth2 block explorer
As the launch of the beacon chain drew near, the bitfly team aimed to ensure there was an open-source eth2 block explorer available from day one. beaconcha.in has evolved into that and much more, providing a wealth of resources for Ethereum stakers and enthusiasts that include:
- Expanding eth2 knowledge base
- Diverse trackers and visual representations such as charts featuring information on liveness, participation, total stake, and more
- Mobile application for keeping tabs on eth2 validators
Stay connected with bitfly on Twitter @etherchain_org or Reddit u/etherchain.
But wait, there’s even more!
- Unirep private and non-repudiable reputation framework: finalized smart contracts, CLI, and zk circuits
- MPC Phase 2 Interface: finished design and specifications; constructed components including server, CLI, and browser client
